Kalyan Mall Update
Further to the preliminary results announcement on 29 June 2009, the Company is pleased to announce that the 5-screen multiplex cinema at its Kalyan mall opened on 3 July 2009. Initial attendance figures have been extremely positive with over 38,000 people visiting the multiplex since its opening. The lead actor in the opening film, Adhyan Suman, visited the mall following the release of his film, and it is expected that Saif Ali Khan, one of Bollywood's most popular actors, will also visit the mall to coincide with the release of his film.
As a result of the opening of the multiplex, the total football at the mall has been strong, with over 265,000 visitors in the month to date. The Company expects the popularity of the multiplex to continue to be beneficial to the Kalyan mall as a whole and reaffirms the Board's confidence that the mall will be substantially leased by March 2010.
Amit Jatia, Chairman of the Company, commented:
"We have always considered the multiplex a vital element of the success of the Kalyan mall and its recent opening on schedule, following the resolution between the main Bollywood producers and multiplex owners, is an important milestone for West Pioneer."
